His name is synonymous with magic. Born in Budapest, Hungary as Erich Weiss, Houdini was among the first wave of Eastern European immigrants to make the arduous trek to America. He first performed as an acrobat before turning his attention to magic and daring escapes. A man of strong social conscience he devoted much of his later life to exposing fraudulent mediums and spiritualists but died tragically, though appropriately enough on Halloween, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. Our session will examine the life of this renowned man of mystery and his conquest of the entertainment world.
