Understanding Shakespeare through King Lear

May 14 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$45

What is to be made of this story of an aged king driven to madness by the ingratitude of his daughters? A difficult story, it combines many themes from Shakespeare’s previous work into a brilliant tragedy of sin and absolution. Lear confronts us with the nature of good and evil, love and forgiveness, suffering and the painful reality of death. Along with these big questions, the play will challenge ideas about tragic heroes, tragic flaws, about the tragic genre itself. If you want to understand how Shakespeare saw the world, you have to come to terms with this play.
