OLLI’s 2023 Stay Curious Photo Contest celebrates the inquisitive adult and their spirit of continuous education and discovery. It’s an opportunity for our lifelong learners, who have a thirst for knowledge and a love for photography, to showcase their talent and creativity.
In this contest, we invite lifelong learners—ages 50 and older—from all walks of life to submit their most captivating photographs that capture the essence of learning, curiosity, and exploration. Whether it’s an image of you and/or your friends experiencing a breathtaking Florida landscape, an awe-inspiring moment, or a powerful depiction of cultural diversity, we want to see your unique perspective on the world and how it relates to the lifelong pursuit of knowledge.
Prizes will be awarded to the most outstanding photographs that effectively capture the essence of lifelong learning. The winning entries will be selected by a panel of judges with expertise in photography, education and design. Winners will not only receive recognition for their talent but also have the opportunity to inspire others through their art.
So, whether you’re an amateur photographer, a seasoned professional, or someone who simply loves to capture the world around them, we encourage you to participate in the OLLI photo contest.

Rules and Tips
- Maximum of five submissions per person (only your first five submissions will be judged).
- Photos must be submitted between August 1, 2023 and midnight on August 31, 2023.
- Lifelong learner(s)—ages 50 and older—must be featured in the submitted photo.
- The person submitting the entry is considered the contestant; if the photo wins an award, prize will go to the contestant.
- You’ll be prompted to provide names of the identifiable people in it; if someone else took the photo, identify that person as well.
- Must be high resolution so they look good in print.
- If submitting a landscape photo, there should be plenty of extra space around the featured person(s) to allow for cropping. Portrait is preferred.
- Avoid significant manipulation (e.g., color enhancements and filters) that dramatically change the nature or presentation of your photo.
- Submitted photos will be considered the property of Eckerd College. These photos may be used for OLLI program covers and/or other positive promotional purposes by the College—with credit to you whenever possible.
- There is no cost to participate.
- Any tax obligations related to the prize will be the sole responsibility of the winner. The contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and is void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Eckerd College will collect a W-9 IRS Form from the winners and send a 1099-MISC IRS form (for U.S. Citizens if aggregate payments meet the $600 reporting threshold in a calendar year), reporting the total amount of the fair market value of the prize(s). If the winner is a Nonresident Alien, Eckerd College will collect a W-8BEN Form and send a 1042-S IRS form, reporting the total amount of the fair market value of the prize(s). The estimated fair market value of each prize is as follows: $340 Grand Prize, $200 Second Place, $123 Third Place and $30 for Fourth and Fifth places.

- Receive one (1) Floridian level (12-month) membership to OLLI at Eckerd College. Not redeemable for cash
- Second Place will:
- Receive $100
- Receive an OLLI Travel (Duffle) bag
- Receive one (1) Annual level membership to OLLI at Eckerd College. Not redeemable for cash
- Third Place will:
- Receive $50
- Receive an OLLI Beach bag
- Receive one (1) 6-month level membership to OLLI at Eckerd College. Not redeemable for cash
- Fourth Place will:
- Receive $25
- Receive an OLLI T-Shirt
- Fifth Place will:
- Receive $25
- Receive an OLLI T-Shirt
First through fifth place winners will have their photo featured on the cover of a 2024 OLLI program catalog.
Judging
The panel of judges for this year’s contest includes members of OLLI’s Member Engagement Committee, two OLLI staff members; one staff member from Marketing and Communications.
Winners will be announced in an October issue of The Source (OLLI’s e-newsletter).
