Tampa International Airport: Flying Behind the Scenes

You’re arriving at the airport, struggling with luggage, seemingly walking miles, drudging through security,congregating with a bunch of strangers, boarding a plane, and then rising above beautiful Tampa Bay.

That’s oneway to look at Tampa International Airport. But we’re offering you a different way of seeing it, both inside the
building and out on the airfield—behind the scenes. Experience the airport with an airport employee as your
guide, so that next time you leave TPA on a jet plane, you’ll have an appreciation of how that side of your trip all
came together. You’ll take a ride on our passenger minibus and learn all there is to know about the daily
operations on the airfield. Then, you’ll get an inside view of areas such as the Baggage Claim wall, the Control
Room, and the TSA Bag Inspection Area.

Meet at the airport to be ready for a 10:30 AM tour. The specific meeting place will be shared with participants in the week before the tour. Please do not bring items that would not be allowed when going through airport security (sharp objects, flammables, firearms). You may bring water to drink.

Activity level: Indoor/outdoor walking with stops. The tour is walker friendly.
