St Petersburg in the Footsteps of Architects

From the Carpenter Gothic Tenth Street Church of God, built in 1898, to the industrial-looking buildings on the new downtown pier, St. Petersburg has a rich architectural heritage. In this talk, Margo Hammond looks at the city through the eyes of the architects, with a tour that includes Mediterranean Revival mansions in Snell Isle, Bird-Cage houses in the Pink Streets, Craftsman bungalows in Kenwood, downtown arcades, an Art Deco grocery store and an octagon comfort station built as a warm up for a church commission in Byzantine and Romanesque Revival style. Both church and bathroom are still standing.
