His 1948 show, Toast of the Town, renamed The Ed Sullivan Show in 1955, was an iconic 23-year TV variety phenomenon. Discovering legends like Elvis, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Sullivan’s Sunday night dominance shaped modern television’s cultural impact.
