The architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright on the campus of Florida Southern College in Lakeland is a little-known Central Florida treasure. Florida Southern College has the largest concentration of Wright designed structures anywhere in the world with 13 buildings on campus. It was his first project following the completion of Fallingwater in Pennsylvania. Join us for this docent-led 1 ½ hour tour that begins with an overview of the project, detailing Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision for the college and the unique method of construction that he chose for the site, as well as the history and design of all 13 Wright-designed structures.*
*Because the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings at Florida Southern are National Historic Landmarks and do not conform to ADA accessible guidelines, the tour is not accessible to visitors in wheelchairs, walkers or scooters. This tour will may include walking along uneven ground and standing for periods of time.
Transportation from Eckerd College to Florida Southern College will be provided.
