OLLI at Eckerd College and Nanda Journeys—invite you to join us on another thoughtfully-crafted travel experience that explores imperial architecture, extraordinary music, and layered history.
This program is designed specifically for our Eckerd community of lifelong learners, and offers a unique opportunity to explore Vienna, Salzburg, Český Krumlov, and Prague through guided learning, local encounters, and shared experiences that bring the region’s culture to life.

Exclusive Eckerd Moments
- Visit a Volkshochschule (Adult Education Center) and engage with staff about civic learning and “second chance” education.
- A private concert in Vienna with a local musician, offering an intimate cultural moment.
- A hands-on cooking class and dinner at a traditional Heuriger (wine tavern), enjoying local cuisine.
- Meet with our peers from Charles University Center for Lifelong Learning. Explore their ongoing adult-learning courses, summer schools, and inter-university programs.
- Traditional Czech Folklore dinner experience with invited Charles University guests.
Cultural Heritage and History
- Guided exploration of Vienna’s artistic legacy with a visit to Belvedere or Kunsthistorisches Museum, with focus on Baroque and Austrian art.
- Vienna’s cultural and imperial landmarks, from Ringstraße and Hofburg to Secession-era design, WWII sites linked to The Third Man, and Schönbrunn Palace.
- Stop in St. Florian Monastery en-route to Salzburg to see the famed Bruckner Organ.
- Walking tour of Salzburg Old Town, including Mozart’s Geburtshaus.
- The medieval town of Český Krumlov, UNESCO treasure of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture.
- Guided walking tour through Prague’s Old Town, including Old Town Square and St. Nicholas Church.
- Prague’s Jewish Quarter and WWII learning experiences, exploring history, memory and resilience.
- Czech art and architecture exploration through the National Gallery or Alfons Mucha Museum.

Dates: September 24-October 3, 2027
Early-Bird Rate: $6,599 per person double occupancy through October 23 then it increases $300. Please add $999 for a single room.
Group Size: 16-20 participants maximum
Your registration includes:
- Pre-Departure Learning – We’ll host an informative session by a subject-matter expert on a topic pertinent to the trip (architecture, history, music, etc.)
- Accommodations – 9 nights in 4-Star hotels selected for location, character, and amenities
- Culinary Delights – Most meals included, as outlined in itinerary
- In-Country Private Transportation – Comfortable motorcoach transportation; note: flights from the U.S. are not included
- Academic Insights – Engaging lectures and conversations with locals and subject-matter experts on the area’s history and culture
- All Entry Fees – for all group activities
- Local Professional Guide – with us the entire trip, along with an Eckerd Staff member
- Emergency Medical Insurance – for illness while abroad or cancellation of trip due to new medical conditions, also includes trip cancellation/interruption coverage due to airline issues
