In 1939, the world was shocked by the start of World War 2 with the invasion of Poland by Germany and the USSR. With the swift capture of Poland by the Germans, the USSR wanted to show off its military might and embarked on a plan to invade and conqure the small nation of Finland. Finland put up a brilliant fight that stunned the military and civilian leaders of the world. Today, Russia has invaded one of its neighbors, Ukraine, and there are similarities between these two conflicts.
