At the root of all religions and spiritual paths is a reverence for the Creation and an acknowledgement of the human responsibility to care for the Earth. We will examine the teachings of the major religions regarding the human relationship to the natural world as well as modern iterations of ancient Earth-wisdom such as deep ecology, eco-theology and creation spirituality. With this review of the deeply rooted spiritual ties between humanity and all life forms as a foundation we can approach our own practices of sustainability as forms of worship, gratitude and sacrifice: we make sacred our lives.
