Is it ever too late to be creative? This three-part course explores aging and creativity in art, literature, and film. After reviewing how age historically is depicted in these arts, the class focuses on the aging practitioners of these arts, including Monet, who was still painting water lilies at age 82; Hilma Wolitzer, who returned to writing short fiction in her 90s; and Anthony Hopkins, who at 83 became the oldest person to win an Oscar.
