Exploring the Ashcan Art Movement

December 7 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$35

This turn-of-the-century American art movement was committed to capturing life in the way journalists and novelists wrote about the harsh conditions of the poor. The Ashcan School, led by Robert Henri, saw themselves as urban realists, intent on exposing the social deprivation and injustice in the American urban environment. Explore their radical focus on the darker side of humanity, and how their message was as pertinent then as it is today. [2 of 2 Sessions] Instructor: Antoinette Dedee Aleccia
